Emotional self-care means to become aware and identify your feelings. When you can do this then you can allow yourself to sit in those feelings. This is a wonderful way to honor yourself and your emotions. Caring for your emotional needs can allow you to nurture your feelings, instead of suppressing them.
Some ways to practice emotional self-care is:
• Daily self-check in (How am I feeling?)
• Journal daily
• Verbally process your emotions with a friend, family member, or a professional.
• State positive affirmations or mantras several times in the day. (Write them on a sticky note and place on your mirror or anywhere you can have easy access.)
• Meditation and/or praying
• Practice gratitude as much as you can. (You can also keep a gratitude journal.)
