Tips to for self -care:
Taking care of others can be rewarding, but if you are not taking care of yourself, you can reach burn out. Taking time for self-care is important to keep you energized, motivated to continue helping others. Here are some tips to keep yourself healthy.
1. Set boundaries:
Your intentions may be to help others, but you may find yourself doing something that is uncomfortable or find a task hard to do. Learn to say no when necessary. Always be clear of what you can and can’t do.
2. Practice self-care:
*Emotional (be aware of your emotions and express your feelings in a healthy way, such as talking, creating art or journaling)
*Physical (eat healthy regularly, exercise, get enough sleep)
*Social (Spend time with people who you like/love and do activities that you enjoy)
*Spiritual (pray, meditate, reiki, spend time in nature)
3. Use your support system: Ask for help, call a friend, use respite as needed for the person you are caring for, so you can attend to your needs.
